Features and Options for Easy Clean X-Ray Glass
- Over 40 standard sizes up to 48" x 96"
- Reduces maintenance
- Increases longevity of product
- Many protective shielding levels available
- Available with lead lined frames for walls
Easy Clean X-Ray Glass is a proprietary treatment developed for our X-ray glass products as a permanent invisible coating that will never peel off or scale. This is not a surface-applied "film"; once treated, it provides a very smooth and durable surface that repels water and oil-based liquids or stains. It resists dirt deposits, oxidation, UV exposure, corrosion, and wear from ongoing glass cleaning processes. Cleaning and maintenance are made up to 90% easier using only clean water or a non-abrasive liquid glass cleaner and a soft, clean microfiber cloth, greatly extending the life of X-ray glass in a medical environment.
What are the Advantages of Ray-Bar Easy Clean X-Ray Glass Over Untreated X-Ray Glass?
Untreated X-ray glass surfaces are inherently soft and porous compared to regular plate glass and may potentially absorb mineral deposits, stains, chemical cleaners, soaps, grime, and dirt. This makes it more challenging to maintain. Discoloration, haze, or a foggy appearance may ensue, reducing the medical technician's view of the patient and medical imaging procedures.
Ray-Bar Easy Clean X-ray glass provides such superior protection that it also assists in preventing the build-up of mold and harmful germs and bacteria, thus promoting a more sterile environment and contributing to the overall infection control program in medical facilities. This invisible, permanent treatment coating is only a few molecules thick and completely transparent, so it does not change the quality or visual appearance of the clear X-ray glass surface and allows the exact same level of light transmission.
This invisible coating treatment cannot be removed except by an abrasive process such as sand blasting or by using abrasive cleaners. However, there still would not be a visible difference where the coating was worn away and that area would be simply harder to clean than the remaining coated and treated areas. Although this special coating increases the service life and quality of X-ray glass, it does not make the glass scratch-proof or abuse-proof. Ray-Bar's "Easy Clean" X-ray glass coating is recommended as a uniquely valuable option that is readily available on all levels of Ray-Bar's radiation shielding X-ray glass products.

HIPAA Patient Privacy Compliance (With Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass Products)
Ray-Bar can assist in the design and specification of specialized x-ray privacy glass. These products help the healthcare facility comply with Federal HIPAA patient privacy regulations designed to protect the privacy of the patient during the imaging process or other sensitive medical procedures.
Options of x-ray privacy glass include: frosted glass, patterned glass, internal blind units, and "mirrored" glass. These unique products provide radiation shielding while providing privacy. Another option is an electronic instantly switchable view from opaque to clear ("open" view or "closed" privacy) with internal mini or micro blinds.
See below for options in the privacy glass line.
Ray-Bar X-Ray Switchable Privacy "Smart Glass"
X-Ray Privacy Glass
Ray-Bar X-Ray Privacy Glass is an electronic switchable privacy glass that provides radiation shielding with the ability to instantly change from clear to privacy "frosting," either manually or automatically activated. The advantage of providing both privacy and x-ray protection is vital to patient privacy in medical imaging procedures.
When the electronic low voltage current is off, the glass is a soft, opaque "frost." When the current is on, the glass is instantly clear for an unhindered view of the procedure and patient during diagnostic imaging or treatment.

This special X-ray glass provides a reflective privacy aspect on the lighter side, also known as "two-way glass," "one-way mirror," or "two-way mirrored." The privacy mirroring effect is not truly "one-sided," as it will "mirror" on the greater light source side from either side of the glass. This is an excellent option for x-ray windows common to the exterior of a building, as during the daytime, it will provide a mirror face privacy finish on the exterior. This glass may also be utilized in a medical imaging control room window as long as the control room side is dimmed a minimum of 20% in relation to the X-ray imaging side.
Ray-Bar "Mirrored" X-Ray Glass is available in grey or bronze tint, and is also available as X-Ray Safety Glass which meets ANSI Z.97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Cat 2 requirements for impact resistance.

- Available with lead lined frames for wall and door applications
Ray-Bar X-Ray Glass is available "encased" in a clear abuse-resistant polymer with a clear scratch-resistant Teflon-coated surface. This increases the durability and product life for utilization in high-risk locations or environments. This product can be used in security applications when securely installed in an appropriate steel frame with tamper-proof fasteners in detention centers, jails, mental health or prison medical X-ray imaging rooms.
This product is also available as X-Ray Safety Glass, which meets ANSI Z.97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Cat 2 requirements for impact resistance. Ray-Bar "Encased" x-ray glass is not "impact proof" or "shatterproof" and cannot be utilized in fire-rated assemblies.
Ray-Bar X-Ray Security Glass (High Impact Resistant-Security-Forced Entry Resistant)
- Utilized in security applications

- 4 to 10 day standard fabrication
- Many protective shielding levels available
- Optional Impact Resistant
- Available with lead lined frames for wall and door applications
X-Ray Security Glass is designed for security applications that require radiation shielding and high impact resistance. It is incorporated into our composite assembly with a minimum 1/2" thick special high-impact clear polycarbonate glazing material bonded to both sides. When properly installed, this impact-resistant glass provides a much higher level of security than other conventional glazing products. It can be provided in various lead shielding equivalencies and certain ballistic-resistant designs. However, this product is not compatible with fire-rated assemblies.
Ray-Bar Low-E X-Ray Glass Assemblies and Insulated Glass Units (IGUs)
Low-E X-Ray Glass
Features and Options for Low-E X-Ray Glass
- Over 40 standard sizes for exterior applications
- Blocks 50% radiant heat transfer
- Many protective shielding levels available
- Optional Impact Resistant
Low-E X-Ray Glass provides X-ray shielding protective qualities and efficient filtering. This glass blocks 50% or more of exterior source solar ultraviolet radiant heat while maintaining 50% clear view visible light transmission. This glass is an excellent option for X-ray windows common to the exterior of a building because it will reduce the X-ray imaging room's total solar heat gain, thereby decreasing energy consumption.
This glass is not a reflective "mirrored" product. Ray-Bar Low-E X-ray glass is available in many lead equivalency shielding values. This product is also available as X-Ray Safety Glass, which meets ANSI Z.97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Cat 2 requirements for impact resistance.
